Oh my. I’ll be honest, I am really great at the picture taking but hanging them on my wall is a WHOLE OTHER BALL GAME! I really want to but I have so many ideas its paralyzing! So paralyzing in fact that this here wall has been bare for YEARS! It is SO embarrassing to admit that, being a photographer and all, but everyone has their weaknesses I guess, right? My mama on the other hand is great at making a home look cozy and pretty. She always has even on a pretty tight budget. It’s what is important to her and she is awesome at it. When she was visiting us last year I asked her to do a gallery wall mock up with some suggestions and ideas from me. She created this. Holy wow. I’m so excited to actually see this come to life. We asked for $ for Christmas to print our family pics we had taken by the lovely Kali Matthew’s Photography. I cannot wait to get them up on the wall and show them off. Yay!

This is how she did it:

We measured the width and height of the front room wall. We started with the biggest images first, then the families are forever “sign” because I knew I wanted it there. After that we built around that. I knew I wanted different shapes and pops of colors that go with the rest of the room decor. As far as actually putting everything on the wall, that will have to be a part 2. for now, I’m just going to stare at this image and pretend its my front room. haha! image

These are some images I found on Pinterest that I absolutely love.

Happy New Year everyone! Even if the New Year always scares me little bit I’m still really excited to see what we have in store for it! Yes, what we, the Greenes , have in store for this much anticipated New Year.

I’ve felt for a while now that I have been like an old crumply leaf, being tossed whichever the direction the wind blows me and I’m just going to be honest: IT’S NOT WORKING FOR ME. I’m sure it doesn’t work for anybody, we just at times in our life let it happen and end up in a place that is less desirable than our potential. The hubs and I have made some pretty life changing goals this year. Not crazy unreachable goals, but scary, uncomfortable our-life-is-going-to-change-because-it-really-needs-to goals. Good, sound goals that will bring us closer to the life we imagine in our minds when we aren’t hustling like everyone else.

I’ve come to appreciate goals. Small, baby-step kinda goals. If I can see the path ahead that goals provide, my life seems much more in control and focused. Yes, there will be challenges but aren’t challenges really the manifestation of life happening? Like, REALLY happening? Not, the daily challenges that we all face whether or not we are reaching for a goal. The CHALLENGES that mold us, purify us and make us into different people than we were before that challenge came to be?

So, I’ve decided to do goals differently this year. Usually, I just write some non specific goals down like “read more books” or “lose weight” haha… This year we are focusing on small manageable (a.k.a. changeable) goals that we can reevaluate in a shorter amount of time. We’re also setting goals that are short term but will help us get to the long term as well. Does that make sense?

I wanted to adopt the same concept that Chris and Heidi Powell from Extreme Weight Loss put in place for their clients. They set goals in 3 month increments and tweak or change little things along the way depending on how they did. This makes making goals a lot easier and make it that much more likely for us to stay on track if we are checking out goals throughout a smaller window of time. They say its the small things that end up making the biggest difference in the end, right? This is a way to visualize that concept.

We (the hubs and I) decided to actually start taking control of our lives to live a more authentic, beautiful life with each other but more importantly, to be the best version of ourselves that God planned for us. For that to work, we need to work on him and I as individuals so we can be there for each other and our kiddos.

Happy New Year!

Excellent. I spent today setting some goals too. I’m starting out with some 30-day goals to get started. Also started looking at plans and options for our family camping trip. =)ReplyCancel
